Welcome to the City of Sonora and the Sonora Police Department. We hope you will visit us and enjoy your stay in our community. There are many recreational activities available in the Sonora area that we hope you will find enjoyable.

In addition, there are many new and exciting changes happening at the Sonora Police Department. With the passage of Measure I the Police Department will be able to add four new police officer positions and lift the freeze on an additional position. The salary of police officers will also become more competitive with the surrounding area.

In Sonora we define our standard of service by asking ourselves, " if this is the way we would want our family and friends to be treated". The Police Department is a part of our community and we must work with our community to solve our problems.

To facilitate this team concept we have developed the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving program. The City of Sonora has been divided into two "Areas of Responsibility." The two Patrol Sergeants have been named the Area Commanders of the two Areas of Responsibility. Sgt. Glenn Roberts is the Area Commander for the north half of Sonora and Lt. Mark Stinson is the Area Commander for the south half of Sonora. The Sergeants are responsible for any problems that might occur within their Area of Responsibility.
